Greener Environment: Bengaluru cyclist Varun Reddy felicitated by IMA

Indian Medical Association (IMA), Manipur on Friday felicitated a cyclist from Bengaluru who came in a solo cycle ride from Bengaluru to Imphal covering 10 states, at the Indian Medical Association office at Lamphelpat, Imphal.

Twenty-seven-year-old cyclist, Varun Reddy from Kormangla in Bengaluru is an accountant by profession. He began his solo cycle expedition from September 1 on the theme ‘Greener Environment.’ Apart from cycling, he is also an organic farmer.

Varun expressed, considering the various forms of pollution caused by destroying the Mother Nature, he started his expedition to spread the message of protecting forest wildlife, water conservation, planting of more trees and others.

He appealed to the public to use cycle instead of using vehicles for travelling short distance as it will lessen the pollution and at the same time, improve health.

Varun claimed that compared to other mainland states, Manipur is far much greener. He said, he had great pleasure in travelling in Northeast states as people are much kindhearted and gave him great hospitality.       

After covering three more states (Mizoram, Meghalaya and Tripura) of the Northeast, he will complete his first Northeast tour.
