As the move to protect the planet earth and the environment has become a global mission now with the spread of awareness in view of the alarming global warming situation, several school students and professionals were awarded for short films on environment by the Environment Ministry.
A competition on short films on environment awareness was organised by the Environment Ministry and the Centre for Media Studies (CMS) VATAVARAN on November 27-30, in Delhi. As many as 345 entries were received and 90 of them were nominated for screening.
The awards for the VATAVARAN – 2019 Short Film Competition and Festival on Environment were presented at a glittering ceremony in Delhi on Saturday. Several professionals and school students were awarded prizes for their documentaries and films by Ravi Agrawal, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Environment.
The Jury was chaired by MP Suresh Prabhu. The panel included film directors Ramesh Sippy, Rahul Rawail and Manju Borah.
VATAVARAN 2019 – the green festival and competition is the first of its kind in India.
VATARAN List of winners – School Students
‘Clean and Green’ – A film by Mumbai students in English, directed by Toon Club and Ecloe Mondiale World bagged the top prize. ‘Pleaseee..’ was awarded the second prize and ‘Let Us Breathe’ won the third prize
VATARAN List of winners – College students/Amateur
‘One Life’ – directed by Nishant Kumar Nishu from Patna won the first prize and the one-minute five-second film ‘Sketch Book’ and ‘Aaina’ bagged second and third prize respectively.
VATARAN List of winners – Professionals
‘Now Your Home’ – directed by Prasad Pandurang Mahekar from Kolhapur, Maharashtra won the first prize.
‘The Silent Voice’ and ‘A Whiff of Clean Air’ stood at second and third spots, respectively.
