Governor Najma Heptulla greets people of Manipur on Ningol Chakkouba

“My heartiest greetings to the people of Manipur, especially our beloved sisters on the auspicious occasion of Ningol Chakouba,” the governor said.

Manipur Governor Najma Heptulla has extended Ningol Chakkouba greetings to the people of Manipur.

“My heartiest greetings to the people of Manipur, especially our beloved sisters on the auspicious occasion of Ningol Chakouba,” the governor said.

“Ningol Chakouba” which is unique to the state of Manipur, rejuvenates family ties and strengthens the bonds of love and affection between brothers and sisters, mothers and daughters and fathers and daughters, helping in the promotion of unity in the society, she said.

It is a very significant and heart-warming occasion on which the married women come to their parental houses along with their children and enjoy a sumptuous feast and receive Dakshina or gifts as a token of love and affection, she added.

“Let us hope that the festival will be celebrated in its true spirit with the involvement of different communities in the state to bring peace, prosperity and peaceful co-existence amongst all,” the governor wished.

Speaker Yumnam Khemchand also extended his best wishes and warm greetings of “Ningol Chakkouba” to all the women of the state.

In his message, Khemchand said that “Ningol Chakkouba” or a grand feast specially arranged by each Manipuri family for their married daughters or sisters stands tall in paying grand respect to its womenfolk in the form of a deserving festival in the culture of Manipur. The festival is a grand tribute to womenfolk in Manipuri tradition showing love and respect towards their role in families and society, he said.

The speaker expressed wish that the womenfolk of the state be bestowed with an unconditional love of their parents, brothers and sisters.
