Fish Crop Competition Rules: Farmers must produce 1,000 kg of fish

A Fish Fair-cum-Fish Crop Competition 2020 will be held on November 16 on the eve of Ningol Chakouba Festival at Mapal Kangjeibung.

 

The Directorate of Fisheries, Government of Manipur has notified to all the participating fish farmers of the Fish Fair-cum-Fish Crop Competition 2020 that the competition will be held on November 16 on the eve of Ningol Chakouba Festival at Mapal Kangjeibung by following the SOPs and the programme will start from 9 am onwards.

The directorate issued the following rules:

The intending fish farmers will be allowed to enter for participation in the Fish Fair-cum-Fish Crop Competition only from 9 am till 2 pm. Farmers who are producing in bulk are requested to bring their fish inside the premises latest by 2 pm. Entry of participating fish farmers will not be allowed beyond the said time.h

The fish farmers are required to bring their own weighing machine which will be duly verified by officials from the Weight and Measures Department at the venue.

The participating fish farmers should segregate their fishes based on species by themselves for assessment recording by judges and officials.

The vehicles used only for carrying fishes will be allowed to enter the fair premises and entry and parking of other vehicles other than the vehicle used for carrying fish is strictly prohibited inside the premises.

Persons wearing face masks only will be allowed to take part in the fair and they have to maintain social distance at all times.

The notice further stated that the farmers should produce at least 1,000 kg of fish and should sell their fishes at the rate as recommended by the department for Fish Fair-cum-Fish Crop Competition. The department will bear the transportation charges for the participating fish farmers and the cash prizes will be awarded to the prize winners, it added.

The first prize of the competition is Rs 1,00,000, followed by second and third prizes of Rs 70,000 and Rs 50,000 respectively. The highest producer of indigenous fish will receive a prize of Rs 20,000 and the consolation prizes will be given to 20 farmers with a cash amount of Rs 10,000 each, the notice stated.
