Drug peddlers arrested with five kg opium

The arrested persons along with the seizures have been handed over to Sugnu police station for further necessary action.

Kakching district commando personnel arrested two drug peddlers along with five kilograms of opium on Wednesday morning around 3 from Sugnu Bazaar Khongnangmakhong area, Kakching district.

The peddlers have been identified as Chinneihat Haokip, 22, daughter of Thanglal Haokip and Sonminthang Haokip, 23, son of Thanglal Haokip.

District police reported that both the peddlers are from Monglenphai village, Churachandpur district. 

They were arrested during frisking and checking at Sugnu Khongnang Makhong area by a team of district commando unit along with lady constables led by sub-inspector, Th Robindro Brown.

The frisking and checking were carried out under the command of officer-in-charge, CDO, inspector Md Abash Khan and under the supervision of additional superintendent of police (Ops), Ksh Manihar.

Police reported that during the said frisking, two unknown persons were seen coming in a two wheeler (Suzuki Brugman 150) bearing registration number MNOIAF 7054 from Chakpikarong towards Sugnu.

When the said commando team gives them stop signal, the two persons tried to escape from the checking point. However, the police team managed to stop the two persons, whom were later identified as drug peddlers.

Other than the five kilogram Kani (Opium), one mobile phone and the vehicle was also seized.

The arrested persons along with the seizures have been handed over to Sugnu police station for further necessary action.
