Altogether 16 persons were confirmed COVID-19 positive in Manipur in the last 24 hours since Saturday, taking the state’s total positive tally to 1,609, official sources said on Sunday.
Of the 16 new cases, six are from Kangpokpi, five from Senapati, three from Imphal East and one each from Chandel and Kakching, said a release from the COVID-19 Common Control Room.
Meanwhile, as many as 53 patients were discharged in the last 24 hours after they were found COVID 19 free on RT PCR test.
The numbers of active cases stands at 713 while that of recovered cases is 896, it said, adding that the recovery rate has improved to 55.68 percent.
It stated that the newly confirmed cases will be shifted to the Covid Care Facilities and that all necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.
Wearing of face mask is a very effective non-medical means to prevent spread of COVID-19, the release stated. “Wear face mask when you speak to your colleagues, close friends and relatives. People should wear face mask whenever going out of the house,” the health department urged the people.
