COVID-19 in Manipur: Positive cases rise to 14,715 with single day spike of 337
The death toll rose to 109 after five persons died in a span of a day.
The total number of COVID-19 positive cases in Manipur on Friday surged to 14,715 as the state recorded another single day spike of 337 cases and the death toll rose to 109 after five persons died in a span of a day, according to an official data.
Of the new positive cases, 304 persons (184 males and 120 females) are from the general population and 33 are Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) personnel, a release from the COVID-19 Common Control Room stated.
The five deaths include three from Imphal East and one each from Thoubal and Tamenglong, it stated.
The positive cases from general population include 113 from Imphal East, 55 from Imphal West, 33 from Kakching, 20 from Chandel, 19 from Tamenglong, 15 from Tengoupal, 12 from Senapati, nine each from Churachandpur and Bishnupur, eight from Ukhrul, seven from Thoubal, three from Kangpokpi and one from Noney, the release stated.
Only eight persons - one from Imphal East and seven from Imphal West - are returnees while the rest are locals without any significant travel history. They are being shifted to the Covid Care facilities. All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.
On Thursday, a total of 164 persons were discharged. With the new recoveries, the cumulative number of recovered cases is 11,245 (general population - 8,972 and Central Security Personnel 2,273) and the recovery rate is 76.41 per cent. The number of active cases is 3,361 (general population -3,018 and Central Security Personnel -343), the state health department stated.
