COVID-19 claims six more lives; 214 more test positive in Manipur

The total number of COVID-19 confirmed cases reached 21,425 in Manipur on Friday

COVID-19 claimed six more lives, pushing the death toll to 213 in Manipur while the cumulative confirmed cases reached 21,425 with 214 more positive cases on Friday, the state health department said.

Two deaths each were reported in Bishnupur, Churachandpur and Imphal West on Friday, a release from the COVID-19 Common Control Room stated.

Among the new confirmed cases, 211 persons, including 123 males and 88 females, are from the general population while three are Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) personnel, the release said.

The new positive cases from general population are Imphal West - 98, Imphal East - 25, Thoubal  -6, Bishnupur - 15, Kakching - 22, Ukhrul -3, Tamenglong -20, Churachandpur - 5, Kangpokpi -3, Senapati -1 and Chandel -13.

All are locals without any significant travel history. They are being shifted to the Covid Care facilities. All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, the release added. 

The number of recovered cases increased to 18,144 (General Population - 15,516 and Central Security Personnel 2,628) after a total of 255 persons were discharged on Friday and the recovery rate has improved to 84.68 per cent, the state health department said, adding that the number of active cases is 3,068 (General Population - 2,831 and Central Security Personnel - 237). 

Those who are in contact with a COVID-19 positive person have been advised to isolate themselves. Contact Covid Control Room or CMO for testing, the health department stated.
