Community Network for Empowerment (CoNE) has invited applications for media fellowship programme that aims to strengthen media advocacy on issues of viral hepatitis through a human rights lens.
A press release has stated that the fellowship is only for media professional of the state of Manipur. The main objective of the fellowship is to create mass awareness among general public on issues surrounding viral hepatitis in the state with special focus on hepatitis C.
The selected candidate has to research and report about scenario of viral hepatitis. The report would be based on such information as its myth and misconceptions, government’s sensitivity towards the issue, stigma and discrimination and access to essential medicines as a public health concern, it informed.
It further said that the duration of the fellowship will be from February 2020 till December 2020. The journalist will have an option to produce news articles, features or audio-video content/ documentary that highlight the problem in connection with viral hepatitis during the period of fellowship. The fellows will be required to publish or broadcast two stories every month.
The selected candidate will receive a monthly stipend of Rs 6000 which will be sanctioned only after the articles or video documentaries are published, it added.
It also stated that application forms should be submitted to the president of the CoNE, Keishamthong Hodam Leirak, Sega Road, Imphal West from 10 am to 4 pm by January 22, 2020.
Applicants should submit curriculum vitae, two work samples on health issues, letter of endorsement from their respective media organisation or a letter of endorsement from an editor if a freelance journalist, letter from editor assuring news stories will be published or broadcast, it stated.
