CM N Biren inaugurates level-1 Trauma Care Centre at RIMS in Imphal
Biren said that the Trauma Care Centre is set up to lower the number of mortality rates caused by road accidents in the state.
Chief Minister N Biren Singh on Monday inaugurated a Level-1 Trauma Care Centre with Intensive Care Unit facility and twin operation theatre complex at Regional Institute of Medical Science through video conference on Monday.
Speaking at the occasion, Biren said that the Trauma Care Centre is set up to lower the number of mortality rates caused by road accidents in the state. The installation of 30 bedded ICU with ventilators and twin Operation Theatre Complex will also help in combating COVlD-l9 pandemic, he said.
The chief minister said that there are talented doctors in the state but there is lack of equipment and infrastructures of medical facilities. As such, many patients have to travel outside the state for their treatment by spending huge amounts of money, he noted.
However, many new facilities and schemes are made available at RIMS hospital with the hard work and dedication of RIMS authorities and it has benefited the people in need, he said.
He further said that the state government is aware of the struggles and efforts of the health care workers during the pandemic and it is also concerned about the welfare of the health care workers.
Saying that there is still lack of COVID-19 awareness among the people, the chief minister maintained that the Health department has started spreading awareness in containment zones since August 30.
He also appealed to the doctors to spread awareness on COVID-19 in their respective localities.
Director of RIMS, professor Santa said that more than 20 ventilators have already been installed at the centre and there is a backup of another 30 ventilators.
The operation theatre is already tested and it is fully equipped for neurosurgery. There are mobile x-ray facilities and kidney dialysis facilities in the Centre, said Santa.
Chairman of Manipur Tribal Development Corporation, Vungzagin Valte, principal secretary Health, V Vumlunmang, medical superintendent, RIMS hospital professor. Ch Arunkumar Singh among others was also a part of the inauguration.
