CM Biren calls for society free from malnutrition and food scarcity

Rashtriyah Poshan Maah aims at making people aware of the importance of nutrition and giving individual services to support supplement nutrition for their children and pregnant women and lactating mothers, the chief minister said.

As the country observes the month-long Rashtriyah Poshan Maah or National Nutritional Month to address the challenges faced in regards to malnutrition, Manipur Chief Minister N Biren appealed all to reach out to every household and create a society free from malnutrition and food scarcity.

“We are all aware that Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched Poshan Abhiyan for holistic nourishment with a vision to address malnutrition in the country by 2022,” Biren stated in his message.

The celebration aims at making people aware of the importance of nutrition and giving individual services to support supplement nutrition for their children and pregnant women and lactating mothers, the chief minister stated.

The primary objective of the Rashtriya Poshan Maah celebration is to identify and trace those children with Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM) and Moderate Acute Malnutrition (MAM) and provide them care and support.

The celebration will also promote plantation drives for the promotion of kitchen gardens under the “Poshan Ke Liye Paudhe” at all Anganwadi centres, schools, government buildings and homes, the chief minister added in his message.
