The Churachandpur district police today organised a Women’s Two Wheeler Rally in observance of the 31st National Road Safety Week that will be held between January 13 -17.
Women police and other female two-wheeler riders participated in the rally held Wednesday morning that started from Peace ground of Tuibong via Lanvabridge till the SP office complex.
Superintendent of police, Amrita Sinha, said that in the run up to the 31st national road safety week they had conducted traffic sign display on Tuesday followed by today’s women’s two-wheeler rally which will be followed by a Walkathon tomorrow by students and others.
The road safety week will also witness free health/eye camp for the drivers and driving community of the district, which she said is an essential part of road safety.
The OC of traffic police, Churachandpur, sub-inspector James Vaiphei pleaded to the people of the district to adhere to traffic rules and be saved, adding that safety is paramount and comes from following traffic rules.
As per provisions under the Motor Vehicles Act the police will soon be enforcing safety helmets for pillion riders who are above four years of age apart from the drivers, she added.
