Babysana Case: Court rejects bail plea of Standard Robarth head warden

Chief Judicial Magistrate, Imphal West has rejected the bail prayer of the head warden of Standard Robarth Higher Secondary School, Ileen Kamei on Monday.

Ileen Kamei was arrested by a team of Singjamei Police on July 23 connection with death of Babysana. Since then Ileen has been in custody under section 305 IPC and 75 JJ Act.

During the bail hearing, Ileen’s counsel submitted that the accused is innocent of the charge for abetment of suicide against her under section 305 IPC and 75 JJ Act. On the other hand, the additional public prosecutor submitted that there still are prima facie evidences against the accused concerning the case. Therefore, there exist no reason for her to be released on bail, it was submitted.

The court on observation stated that as per the materials presented till date, the charges against her are substantiated by sufficient materials. As such, the court rejected the bail plea.

The court also mentioned that two persons related to case have been released on bail as they require medical treatment and under health grounds.

It may be mentioned that Session Judge, Imphal West on July 20, rejected the anticipatory bail filed by the head warden. And she has been in custody for four months in connection to the case.
