Maram Battalion of Headquarters IGAR-East under Spear Corps launched an operation and apprehended one active cadre of NSCN (I-M) on NH-02 at Maram, Manipur on September 24, stated a release issued by PIB (Defence Wing) on Sunday.
Based on a tip off, security forces launched an operation in general area Maram and apprehended one cadre of NSCN (I-M), it stated.
On interrogation, the individual revealed that he has been working for NSCN (I-M) since 2002, it stated. He is involved in extortion and tax collection activities in NH-02 since last two months, it further stated, adding he was collecting tax with another cadre who ran away with the money on seeing security forces.
The arrested cadre has been handed over to Senapati police station for further investigation, it added.
