Imphal West continues to log highest daily COVID-19 positive cases in Manipur

Manipur reported 210 new COVID-19 positive cases and three deaths on Sunday.

Manipur on Sunday reported 210 new COVID-19 positive cases, taking the state's tally to 1,19,884, while three more fatalities pushed the death toll to 1,846, according to the latest updates by the state health department.

Imphal West, the worst-hit district in the state, reported as many as 104 new COVID-19 positive cases and one death on Sunday. A total of 41,175 persons have so far been infected by COVID-19 in the district, of which 614 persons have died due to the infection.

The other new COVID-19 positive cases reported on Sunday included 41 from Imphal East, 15 each from Bishnupur and Kamjong, 11 (including five CAPF personnel) from Ukhrul, nine from Churachandpur, seven from Thoubal, four from Chandel, two from Tengnoupal and one each from Kakching and Senapati, as per a release issued by the state COVID-19 Common Control Room.

All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, the release stated.

The new COVID-19 cases were among the 2,970 test results received on Sunday. The daily positivity rate is 7.1 per cent, as per the update.

Ukhrul and Imphal also recorded one COVID-19 death each on Sunday. Of the three COVID-19 deaths, one had comorbidities while none was vaccinated, the release stated.

The number of COVID-19 active cases in Manipur as of Sunday is 2,125 after 166 more patients were discharged. The cumulative number of COVID-19 recovered cases reached 1,15,913 and the recovery rate is 96.69 per cent, it stated.

Meanwhile, a total of 827 D-type oxygen cylinders and 368 B-type oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities of the state in the last 24 hours.

It further stated that the cumulative number of doses of COVID-19 vaccine administered in the state reached 16,70,226, including 12,19,435 first dose and 4,50,791 second dose.

According to the release, there are 440 vacant general beds and 104 ICU/HDU beds of COVID-19 in seven hospitals of Manipur.

In CMC, Koirengei (Contact No. 9612636004/9612905628) there are 30 vacant general beds and eight ICU/HDU beds;  in Iboyaima Hospital, Singjamei (Contact No.7005436870/ 9612022125) there are 25 vacant general beds and five ICU/HDU beds; in Jivan Hospital, Kakching (Contact No. 9366034272/ 7085348366) there are 20 vacant general beds and five ICU/HDU beds; in Shija Hospital (Contact No. 9436807346/7005125158) there are 48 vacant general beds and 40 ICU/HDU beds; in Raj Medicity (Contact No.7005105552/9366496411) there are 82 vacant general beds and 22 ICU/HDU beds, in RIMS (Contact No. 7640862396) there are 193 vacant general beds and 24 ICU/HDU beds and in JNIMS (Contact No. 8837342526) there are 42 general beds,, it mentioned.
