All necessary safety measures have been made to reopen three Khwairamband Ima Markets and all women vendors must collect colour coded cards from IMC for permission to open the markets, IMC municipal commissioner K Chandrakumar said on Saturday.

In a press conference held on Saturday at Imphal Municipal Corporation (IMC) office, Chandrakumar said that as per instruction issued by the state government to reopen three Ima Markets from September 27, IMC has taken up precautionary measures so that vendors who are cardholders can maintain SOPs effectively.

He further said that the state government will issue three different colours of cards such as pink, green and yellow to the women vendors. Only the cardholders are permissible to open the market twice a week.

The vendors who got pink cards are allowed to open on Monday and Thursday, green cards on Tuesday and Friday and yellow cards on Wednesday and Saturday. Sunday will be kept for cleaning and sanitising the market site, he added while informing that the vendors must maintain six feet distance between each other.

He further said that every vendor should collect the cards compulsorily as strict action would be taken up if any vendors are found without the card. Even on Sunday, the vendors can come and collect the cards.

He further appealed to the buyers and vendors to maintain SOPs while shopping to prevent further spread of COVID-19.
