Manipur's daily COVID-19 positive tally rises to 229, logs zero fatality

The daily COVID-19 positive cases in Manipur rose to 229 on Saturday with a positivity rate of 7.6 per cent while no death was reported in the state, according to the latest updates from the state health department. On Friday, the state recorded 209 COVID-19 positive cases. 

As per the updates, a total of 3,032 test results were received on Saturday, of which 229 were found positive for COVID-19 while no death was reported.

The worst-hit district in the state - Imphal West reported as many as 129 new COVID-19 positive cases on Saturday. A total of 41,071 people have so far been infected in the district, of which 613 people have died due to the infection.

The other new COVID-19 positive cases included 44 from Imphal East, 22 from Ukhrul, seven from Kakching, six from Churachandpur, five from Senapati, four each from Chandel, Kamjong and Thoubal, and two each from Bishnupur and Tengnoupal and one Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) personnel. 

Manipur also recorded 174 new recoveries on Thursday, taking the cumulative recovered cases to 1,15,747. The  recovery rate is 96.72 per cent and the number of COVID-19 active cases is 2,084 as of Saturday.

Meanwhile, a total of 983 D-type oxygen cylinders and 209 B-type oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities of the state in the last 24 hours.

It further stated that the cumulative number of doses of COVID-19 vaccine administered in the state reached 16, 60,591, including 12,18,259 first dose and 4,42,332 second dose.

According to the release, there are 441 vacant general beds and 102 ICU/HDU beds of COVID-19 in seven hospitals of Manipur.
