Honey Mission: Several farmers attend bee-keeping training programme in Ukhrul

Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Ukhrul district, Indian Council for Agricultural Research, Manipur Centre, started a seven-day training programme on 'Scientific Beekeeping under National Bee-Keeping and Honey Mission' sponsored by National Bee Board, Government of India from September 24 to 30 at the training hall of KVK-Ukhrul.

A total of 30 farmers and beekeepers from five different villages of the district attended the training programme, Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Ukhrul district stated in a release.

Different spokepersons, including scientist entomology, ICAR, Manipur Centre Arati Ningombam; scientist entomology, ICAR, Manipur Centre Romila Akoijam; subject matter specialist, KVK-Churachandpur N Johnson Singh; subject matter specialist, Plant Protection KVK-Ukhrul N Ajitkumar Singh and DDM-Ukhrul, NABARD Irungbam Premjoy Singh will be delivering lectures on different aspects related to Scientific beekeeping as well as funding pattern as well as related to banking sector, it stated.

During the programme, M Kanmi of Litan Village, Ukhrul district who is also a successful beekeeper among the progressive farmers shared his experience regarding bee keeping and honey production, it mentioned.
