Langpram and Konphung villages in Tamei sub-division of Tamenglong district Manipur have withdrawn their ‘No Objection Certificates’ that was reportedly collected by a ‘Liangmai Naga Council Manipur’ for construction of a proposed national highway from Tamenglong-Peren via Luangdi Pabram village.
According to the Langpram (Nheng) village authority chairman Ch Sangwang, the villagers have held a joint meeting with youth club, student wing, women society and land owners on September 20.
The joint meeting after thorough discussion decided to withdraw the ‘No Objection Certificate’ issued by village authority chairman in blank letterheads for construction of the proposed new national highway- Tamenglong- Peren district in Nagaland.
The joint meeting observed that the no objection certificates were issued by the village authority chairman without the consent of land owners and whole villagers in particular. It also stated that the blank letter heads are deceiving the land owners and the whole villagers as well. With these observations, the meeting decided to withdraw their ‘No Objection Certificates’.
Konphung villagers also held a joint meeting on September 19 and decided to withdraw the ‘No Objection Certificates’ allegedly issued by village authority chairman in blank letterheads for construction of the said road.
In this regard, the two villages submitted a memorandum to the deputy commissioner who is also the land collector.
