Manipur on Thursday recorded 194 new COVID-19 positive cases, pushing the state's tally to 1,19,235 while the death toll mounted to 1,838 with two more fatalities, according to the latest update by the state health department. The positivity rate is 5.7 per cent.
The two COVID-19 fatalities recorded on Thursday are from Imphal West and Bishnupur. Both had co-morbidities and one was vaccinated with the first dose, according to a release issued by the state COVID-19 Common Control Room.
Imphal West and Imphal East continued to report the highest number of new COVID-19 cases 109 and 31 positive cases respectively. Eleven cases were reported from Bishnupur, 13 from Ukhrul, nine from Churachandpur, seven from Thoubal, six from Chandel, five from Kakching and one each from Kangpokpi, Noney and Senapati.
All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, it stated.
The state also recorded 136 new recoveries, taking the cumulative number of recovered cases to 1,15,127. The recovery rate is 96.55 per cent, the release added.
Manipur now has 2,270 COVID-19 active cases, as per the release.
Meanwhile, a total of 1,068 D-type Oxygen Cylinders and 281 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health institutions and health facilities of Manipur in the last 24 hours.
As per the latest update, the total number of people who have been administered the vaccine has reached 16,45,647 (first dose: 12,16,639 and second dose: 4,29,008).
According to the release, there are 436 vacant general beds and 104 ICU/HDU beds of COVID-19 in seven hospitals of Manipur.
