The Meetei Council Moreh (MCM) has warned the Manipur Development Society (MDS) against alleged using of council’s name to get funds for construction of international bus parking in Moreh town.
MCM came to know about the misuse of its name when a team of Central Bureau Investigation (CBI) visited Moreh on Wednesday to investigate various projects taken up by MDS under 13 Finance Commission, Government of India. The team visited MCM office and enquired about the project of international bus parking taken up by MDS at Moreh Town Parking which is owned and managed by MCM.
In surprise of the enquiry, MCM responded to the CBI team that the present Moreh Town Parking is a private parking facility managed and run by the council. The land of the parking lot belongs to MCM and no infrastructure is developed or taken up by MDS in the said private place or parking area. However, the CBI team informed that MDS has utilised a huge amount of funds in the name of constructing the international bus parking.
