The Kuki Chiefs Association (KCA), Tengnoupal district has called 24-hour bandh along Moreh to Imphal highway from September 27 midnight in the entire Tengnoupal district in protest against the state government’s lackadaisical attitude towards the district.

A release by KCA stated that the chiefs association and other civil voluntary organisations of Tengnoupal district had issued a joint press release on September 14 condemning the frequent transfer of deputy commissioners in the district.

There is no objection to the appointment of the present DC of Tengnoupal Praveen Singh as additional chief electoral officer by the government, but the frequent transfer of DC in Tengnoupal is totally uncalled for. These frequent transfers have had serious implications towards the development and effective functioning of the district administration, it added.

Appealing the state government to rescind its order in the interest of the public, KCA also stated in the release that the intention of the protest is not to cause misery to the general public but to draw seriousness of the government towards the district.
