The District Sports Association, Chandel has decided to relaunch DC's Trophy Football Tournament from this season, if the COVID-19 situation improves.
The arrangement was arrived at after the executive council, DSA Chandel had approached deputy commissioner office, requesting to revive the erstwhile DC's Trophy which has been stopped for many years. The DC's Trophy was established in 2005 during the tenure of the then DC Norbert Disinang.
Deputy commissioner of Chandel M Rajkumar Singh had convened a meeting of District Level Officers on September 6 and had agreed to the proposal placed by the DSA Chandel for revival of the DC's Trophy.
Subsequently, the District Sports Association, Chandel led by its president TS Chamna Anal met the present deputy commisioner Mayanglambam Rajkumar and inked the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for relaunching of the DC's Trophy from this season.
The DSA Chandel in a press statement said, they are very grateful to DC Chandel Mayanglambam Rajkumar Singh who is friendly and supportive and ready to develop sports in our district for a better future of the young generations.
“We do hope that there will be no financial problems in conducting the DC's Trophy and we are committed to carry forward as best we can. If the COVID-19 situation improves, we will start the Trophy from this season and appeal to all affiliated clubs to be ready for it,” it stated.
