CM Biren inaugurates several projects in Tamenglong district

The Manipur chief minister also declared GI Tagging of ‘Tamenglong Orange’ and declared Kaimai Railway Station as Rani Gaidinliu Railway Station.

Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh on Wednesday inaugurated several development projects in Tamenglong district during his two-day visit in the district.

The chief minister was accompanied by Works Minister Th Biswajit Singh, Education Minister S Rajen Singh, Transport Minister Vungzagin Valte, Agriculture Minister Oinam Lukhoi Singh, Forest Minister Awangbow Newmai, advisor to CM Dr Sapam Rajen Singh, ADC Tamenglong chairman Namsinrei Panmei, deputy commissioner Tamenglong Armstrong Pame and other dignitaries at the inauguration.

During his visit to Tamenglong, the chief minister inaugurated the much awaited PSA oxygen plant 1000 LPM at district hospital Duigailong Tamenglong, additional 50 bedded hospital, a natural football ground as well as transits quarters for Doctors and teachers at Tamenglong district headquarter.

He also declared GI Tagging of ‘Tamenglong Orange’ and declared Kaimai Railway Station as Rani Gaidinliu Railway Station.

He also laid foundation stones for construction of Tamenglong-Mahur road, and announced about backward community funds under NEC for Zeme amounting to Rs 5 crore.

He also announced about another four crore for construction of tissue culture facilities for citrus fruits under NEC fund. “You are blessed by doing what is right. May you get what you want,” he said.

He said the state government is here to uplift the weaker section of the society, be it women, girl child or village and grow together with oneness and live together. He was speaking as the chief guest at Tamenglong mini stadium after the inauguration of various development projects and laying the foundation stone for different development projects. 

He further said that his government will never do anything that will hurt the sentiments of any community. “We should live together in peace,” he added. 

He said his government is doing what the people wished and will continue to do so. 

N Biren Singh said Tamenglong is moving forward in every aspect. The landscape of Tamenglong district has totally changed as many development projects are going on, he said.

Nungba sub-divisional headquarters is the centre of national highway where passenger buses, and goods trucks pass through, he said.  Many unwanted accidents have frequently occurred on this highway but there is no blood bank, operation theatre, no oxygen, etc., he said.  However, Nungba assembly constituency has had a minister and deputy chief minister during the last 30 years, he said.

With the coming of the BJP-led government in the last four years, Nungba headquarters now has a blood bank; its higher secondary has been upgraded into a college, and an oxygen plant is being inaugurated today, he added.

“Laying the foundation stone for construction of Tamenglong - Haflong road is my happiest moment today. For this, land was being donated for construction of the road and it happened for the first time in the history of the country,” he said. 

Tousem subdivision will develop faster in five years after construction of Tamenglong- Mahur district in Assam state, he assured.  

He also further assured that he would provide bigger lights and lamps to play even at night in the natural football grass ground. 

In recognising the Joint Tribe councils of Zeme, Rongmei, Inpui, Liangmai, he announced a 3 crore sanctioned work order to construct joint tribe councils’ secretariat in Tamenglong district headquarters. 

He also gave Rs 1.12 crore sanctioned work order to the Joint tribe student organisation of Zeme, Rongmei, Inpui, Liangmai for construction of Noney to Houchong road. 

He urged all the citizens of Tamenglong to elect a person who can stay and work in Tamenglong district. He also urged all to give support and cooperation to the state government for peace and prosperity and development. 

Forest Minister Awangbow Newmai and Minister of education S Rajen Singh also spoke on the occasion.  Tamenglong deputy commissioner Armstrong Pame also presented powerpoint and video clips about the development projects in Tamenglong.
