Manipur's COVID-19 death toll reaches 1,835 with three more fatalities

As many as 197 persons also tested positive for COVID-19 in Manipur

Manipur on Tuesday recorded 197 new COVID-19 positive cases, pushing the state's tally to 1,18,870 while the death toll mounted to 1,835 with three more fatalities, according to the latest update by the state health department. The positivity rate is 6.6 per cent. 

Of the three COVID-19 fatalities recorded on Tuesday, one death each was reported from Imphal East, Kangpokpi and Ukhrul. Two had co-morbidities and none were vaccinated, according to a release issued by state COVID-19 Common Control Room. 

Imphal West and Imphal East continued to report the highest number of new COVID-19 cases 78 and 47 positive cases respectively. Twenty cases were reported from Churachandpur, 24 from Ukhrul, seven each from Kakching and Kangpokpi, four each from Senapati and Tamenglong, three from Bishnupur and one each from Chandel, Kamjong and Thoubal.

All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, it stated.

The state also recorded 203 new recoveries, taking the cumulative number of recovered cases to 1,14,861. The recovery rate is 96.63 per cent, the release added.

Manipur now has 2,174 COVID-19 active cases, as per the release.

Meanwhile, a total of 980 D-type oxygen cylinders and  239 B-type oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health institutions and health facilities of Manipur in the last 24 hours.

As per the latest update, the total number of people who have been administered the vaccine has reached 16,33,873 (first dose: 12,15,215 and second dose: 4,18,658).

According to the release, there are 425 vacant general beds and 107 ICU/HDU beds of COVID-19 in seven hospitals of Manipur. 

In CMC, Koirengei (Contact No. 9612636004/9612905628) there are 28 vacant general beds and six ICU/HDU beds;  in Iboyaima Hospital, Singjamei (Contact No.7005436870/ 9612022125) there are 25 vacant general beds and five ICU/HDU beds; in Jivan Hospital, Kakching (Contact No. 9366034272/ 7085348366) there are 20 vacant general beds and five ICU/HDU beds; in Shija Hospital (Contact No. 7005097688/7005125158) there are 40 vacant general beds and 38 ICU/HDU beds; in Raj Medicity (Contact No.7005105552/9366496411) there are 75 vacant general beds and 24 ICU/HDU beds, in RIMS (Contact No. 7640862396) there are 183 vacant general beds and 22 ICU/HDU beds and in JNIMS (Contact No. 8131855346) there are 54 general beds and seven ICU/HDU, it mentioned.
