India on Tuesday reported 26,115 new COVID-19 positive cases in the last 24 hours. The country has been reporting less than 50,000 daily new cases for the past 86 days, the Union Health and Family Welfare Ministry said.
With the new cases, the cumulative COVID-19 active cases reached 3,09,575. The cumulative number of active cases presently accounts for 0.92 per cent of the country's total positive cases.
The cumulative number of COVID-19 confirmed cases reached 3,35,04,534, while the death toll mounted to 4,45,385 as 252 more patients succumbed to the disease in the last 24 hours.
The testing capacity across the country continues to be expanded. The last 24 hours saw a total of 14,13,951 tests being conducted. India has so far conducted 55,50,35,717 cumulative tests.

While the testing capacity has been enhanced across the country, the Weekly Positivity Rate at 2.08 per cent remains less than three per cent for the last 88 days now. The Daily Positivity rate now is 1.85 per cent. The daily positivity rate remained below three per cent for the last 22 days and below five per cent for 105 consecutive days now.
The recovery of 34,469 patients in the last 24 hours increased the cumulative tally of recovered patients since the beginning of the pandemic to 3,27,49,574 as of Tuesday. Consequently, India’s recovery rate stands at 97.75 per cent.

With the administration of 96,46,778 vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage exceeded reached 81,85,13,827 as per provisional reports till 7 am Tuesday. This has been achieved through 80,35,135 sessions, the ministry stated.
Of the total beneficiaries of the vaccine, 87,50,107 total healthcare workers have been fully vaccinated till date.
