Manipur power department suspends strike

The Manipur Electricity Employees’ Union (MEEU) has suspended its ongoing strike against non-implementation of 7th Pay Commission, citing the present pandemic situation.

The decision to call off the strike temporarily was taken at a joint meeting of representatives of the JAC, stated MEEU general secretary T Shyamnagor Singh in a letter addressed to the commissioner (Power); managing directors of MSPDCL and MSPCL.

A meeting was held at the office chamber of MEEU, power house Keishampat, Imphal on Monday. It decided to call off the sit-in-protest demanding implementation of 7th pay (ROP-2019) by October 5.

The meeting also decided to resume the strike at a suitable time and date without further notice to the concerned authority if the authority failed to implement within the stipulated time.
