Manipur’s COVID-19 active tally drops as recoveries surpass new cases

A total of 178 persons tested positive for COVID-19 in Manipur while 183 new recoveries were recorded on Monday.

Manipur's single-day COVID-19 recoveries on Monday surpassed the number of new infections with the state recording 183 new recoveries against 178 new positive cases, according to the latest update by the state health department.

While the daily COVID-19 positivity rate rose to 8.8 per cent, the recovery rate is 96.62 per cent as of Monday. With it, the active caseload has dipped to 2,183, according to a release issued by State COVID-19 Common Control Room.

With the new positive cases, the state's OVID-19 tally surged to 1,18,673, including 1,14,658 recovered cases. 

One more COVID-19 fatality from Imphal West pushed the death toll to 1,832, as per the release. 

Imphal West and Imphal East continued to report the highest number of new COVID-19 cases with 66 and 60 positive cases respectively. Ten cases were reported from Churachandpur, 14 from Ukhrul, eight each from Bishnupur and Tamenglong, three from Thoubal, two each from Chandel, Kakching and Senapati and one each from Jiribam, Kangpokpi and Pherzawl.

All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, it stated.

Meanwhile, the total number of people who have been administered vaccine had reached 16,26,163.

According to the release, there are 503 vacant general beds and 107 ICU/HDU beds of COVID-19 in nine hospitals of Manipur. 

In ILAND Hospital (Contact No. 9540404955/7085206820) there are 60 vacant general beds; in MSF, Little flower School (Contact No. 9311222947) there are 27 vacant general beds and three  ICU/HDU beds; in CMC, Koirengei (Contact No. 9612636004/9612905628) there are 27 vacant general beds and six ICU/HDU beds;  in Iboyaima Hospital, Singjamei (Contact No.7005436870/ 9612022125) there are 27 vacant general beds and three ICU/HDU beds; in Jivan Hospital, Kakching (Contact No. 9366034272/ 7085348366) there are 20 vacant general beds and five ICU/HDU beds; in Shija Hospital (Contact No. 7005097688/7005125158) there are 37 vacant general beds and 38 ICU/HDU beds; in Raj Medicity (Contact No.7005105552/9366496411) there are 74 vacant general beds and 24 ICU/HDU beds, in RIMS (Contact No. 7640862396) there are 183 vacant general beds and 22 ICU/HDU beds and in JNIMS (Contact No. 8131855346) there are 48 general beds and six ICU/HDU, it mentioned.
