Jagdish Mukhi sworn in as 20th Nagaland Governor

Jagdish Mukhi, who is also the governor of Assam, was appointed to discharge the functions of the governor of Nagaland in addition to his own duties on September 10.

Jagdish Mukhi was on Friday sworn-in as the 20th governor of Nagaland at a ceremony held at the Dr Imkongliba Ao hall of the Nagaland Raj Bhavan in the presence of Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, Deputy Chief Minister Yanthungo Patton, cabinet ministers and other senior officials.

The oath of office and secrecy was administered by Gauhati High Court judge Songkhupchung Serto, while the proceedings of the oath taking ceremony was executed by chief secretary J Aalam.

"Sworn-in as the 20th Governor of Nagaland today. The Swearing in Ceremony took place in the Dr. Imkongliba Ao hall of Nagaland Raj Bhavan. The Oath of Office of the Governor was administered by Justice Songkhupchung Serto, Judge, Gauhati High Court," the newly sworn-in governor tweeted.

Meanwhile, CM Neiphiu Rio congratulated Mukhi on behalf of the people of the state and extended his best wishes to the newly sworn-in governor.

"Congratulations, Prof. Jagdish Mukhi @jagdishmukhi on taking oath as the new Governor of Nagaland. On behalf of the people of the state, I extend a very warm welcome to you. I wish you the best for your new assignment and also for the years ahead," the chief minister tweeted.

Deputy CM Y Patton also tweeted, "Congratulations and best wishes to Prof. Jagdish Mukhi Ji on taking oath as the Governor of Nagaland. I am confident that your insights, ideas, and knowledge will be invaluable to the State and the people. I wish you a successful tenure!".

Jagdish Mukhi, who is also the governor of Assam, succeeded RN Ravi as the new governor of Nagaland. Mukhi was appointed to discharge the functions of the governor of Nagaland in addition to his own duties, until regular arrangements are made on September 10.
