Manipur's COVID-19 death toll surges to 1,815 with three more fatalities

A total of 231 more persons tested COVID-19 positive in Manipur on Tuesday.


Manipur on Tuesday recorded 231 new COVID-19 positive cases, pushing the state's tally to 1,17,461 while the death toll mounted to 1,815 with three more fatalities, according to the latest update by the state health department. The positivity rate is 6.9 per cent. 

Of the three COVID-19 fatalities recorded on Tuesday, two is from Imphal West and one from Imphal East. Two had co-morbidities while none was vaccinated, according to a release issued by State COVID-19 Common Control Room. 

Imphal West and Imphal East continued to report the highest number of new COVID-19 cases Tuesday 134 and 37 positive cases respectively. Seventeen cases were reported from Churachandpur, 10 each from Thoubal and Ukhrul, five from Bishnupur, four each from Kangpokpi and Noney, three each from Senapati and Kakching, two from Tamenglong and one each from Kamjong and Chandel. 

All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, it stated.

The state also recorded 231 new recoveries, taking the cumulative number of recovered cases to 1,13,032. The recovery rate is 96.23 per cent, the release added.

The number of  COVID-19 active cases stand at 2,614 as of Tuesday, as per the release.

Meanwhile, a total of 1,219 D-type Oxygen Cylinders and  229 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health institutions and health facilities of Manipur in the last 24 hours.

As per the latest update, the total number of people who have been administered vaccine had reached 16,00,361 (first dose: 12,01,850 and second dose: 3,98,511).

According to the release, there are 485 vacant general beds and 105 ICU/HDU beds of COVID-19 in nine hospitals of Manipur. 

In ILAND Hospital (Contact No. 9540404955/ 7085206820) there are 48 vacant general beds; in MSF, Little flower School (Contact No. 9311222947) there are 20 vacant general beds and six ICU/HDU beds; in CMC, Koirengei (Contact No. 9612636004/9612905628) there are 29 vacant general beds and six ICU/HDU beds;  in Iboyaima Hospital, Singjamei (Contact No.7005436870/ 9612022125) there are 27 vacant general beds and three ICU/HDU beds; in Jivan Hospital, Kakching (Contact No. 9366034272/ 7085348366) there are 16 vacant general beds and eight ICU/HDU beds; in Shija Hospital (Contact No. 7005097688/7005125158) there are 44 vacant general beds and 32 ICU/HDU beds; in Raj Medicity (Contact No.7005105552/9366496411) there are 80 vacant general beds and 20 ICU/HDU beds, in RIMS (Contact No. 7640862396) there are 180 vacant general beds and 23 ICU/HDU beds and in JNIMS (Contact No. 8131855346) there are 41 general beds and seven ICU/HDU, it mentioned.
