Two persons were arrested with a huge cache of Amphetamine tablets worth Rs five crore at Khoibu village near Kakching Lamkhai, Kakching district on Saturday.
According to the Customs Division assistant commissioner, acting on specific information, the personnel of Anti-Smuggling Unit of Customs Division, Imphal intercepted the two persons along with around five kg of Amphetamine tablets at Khoibu village on Saturday at around 2:30 pm. One carry bag containing five packets (brown colour) weighing about 5.860 kg were detected. On further examination, 50,000 Amphetamine tablets weighing around five kg were seized.
The arrested persons have been identified as Dangshawa Kosam Tamrung, 34, son of Dangshawa Robin Maring of Laiching MInou, Machi sub-division, Chandel district and Md Salam, 37, son of Md Salaoddin of Sekmaijin Khunou Konuma, Hiyanglam, Thoubal district.
A case has been registered and under relevant sections of the NDPS Act, 1985, the two persons were arrested. Further investigation to nab other offenders of the case is going on.
