The Manipur Commission for Protection of Child Rights (MCPCR) assured that the commission will urge the Union Human Resource Development Ministry and the Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS) to fulfill the necessary requirements and infrastructure in all the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs) opened in the state.

The assurance was made by MCPCR chairperson Phurailatpam Manibabu Sharma on Saturday during an inspection visit at JNV Bishnupur and JNV Loktak that remained closed for a long time due to COVID-19 lockdown. The inspection was carried out to ensure that all the facilities and infrastructure are in better condition once the schools are reopened as the authority concerned had instructed to open the schools.

Manibabu said that as per instruction from the higher authority, JNVs are set to reopen shortly. As the schools were shut down for such a long time due to the ongoing pandemic, it is of utmost need to check the condition of the schools in the interest of students.

During the visit, the MCPCR team checked the condition of classrooms, toilets, drinking water facilities, dining hall, playground and others. Apart from this, the team also took opinions from the teachers to help in enhancing the facilities of the school, he added.
