Assam's COVID-19 tally surged to 5,93,951 with the addition of 437 new positive cases, while four more deaths pushed the death toll to 5,727, as per the Union Health Ministry's update.
The COVID-19 positivity rate dropped to 0.55 per cent as of Thursday.
The new COVID-19 positive cases were among the 79,245 test results received on Thursday, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma posted on Twitter.
Seventy-one new COVID-19 positive cases were reported from Kamrup Metro, 41 from Golaghat, 32 from Sivasagar and 27 from Sonitpur.
Meanwhile, Assam also recorded 524 new recoveries on Thursday. With it, the cumulative number of COVID-19 recovered cases in the state is 5,82,017 with a recovery rate of 97.99 per cent while the active caseload stood at 6,207, according to the Union Health Ministry.
