Three drug peddlers arrested in Shillong, Yaba tablets worth Rs 1.8 crore seized

Three persons, including a woman were arrested along with over 8,400 kg of Yaba tablets worth around Rs 1.8 crore in Shillong on Thursday.

East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police Sylvester Nongtnger said that the district ANTF along with personnel of Rynjah police station in the presence of locality members conducted a search at the residence of one woman at Lapalang.

He informed that 8.471 kg of Yaba tablets were recovered worth Rs 1.8 crore in the international market from her residence.

The SP said that the Yaba tablets were trafficked from Myanmar to be smuggled across the border to Bangladesh.

He further informed that on the leading of the accused, two more suspects were arrested.

In this connection, a case under the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 is being registered at Rynjah police station.
