The Anouba Ireipakki Maheiroi Singpanglup (AIMS) has demanded removal of the principal of College of Nursing, Medical Directorate, Imphal Nalinibala Devi from her post, claiming that she is not qualified to hold the post as per guidelines of the Indian Nursing Council.
AIMS also appealed to the authority concerned to appoint other qualified persons for the post in a release issued on Wednesday.
As per guidelines of the Indian Nursing Council, the post of the principal should be held by an individual with minimum 15 years of teaching experience, AIMS stated. It questioned how such an individual who has not fulfilled the guidelines given by the state and the Centre has been appointed as the principal.
AIMS stated that as per Manipur Gazette No 112 dated August 5, 2014 and seniority list issued by director of Health Services on September 3, 2020, Nalinibala was included in serial number 6 in the list. According to the list, there are other individuals who are much senior and more qualified to be the principal instead of Nalinibala, it added.
It will be best for all if the present principal of the college steps down from her post, the release stated.
AIMS also declared that they may resort to protests if the state government fails to remove Nalinibala from the post of the principal.
