Manipur's COVID-19 tally surges to 1,16,134 with 268 new positive cases

Three more persons died due to COVID-19 in Manipur.

Manipur's COVID-19 tally on Wednesday surged to 1,16,134 as 268 more persons tested positive for COVID-19 in a span of 24 hours, while the death toll mounted to 1,805 with three more fatalities, according to the latest update by the state health department. The positivity rate is 8.2 per cent. 

All the three COVID-19 fatalities recorded on Wednesday are from Imphal East, according to a release issued by State COVID-19 Common Control Room. 

It stated that of the three fatalities, two had co-morbidities and only one was vaccinated with the first dose.

Imphal West and Imphal East continued to report the highest number of new COVID-19 cases with 113 and 59 positive cases respectively. Thirty-nine cases were reported from Churachandpur, 11 from Ukhrul, eight from Bishnupur, seven from Chandel, six each from Kakching and Kamjong, five from Senapati, four each from Tamenglong, Thoubal and Noney and two from Pherzawl.

All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, it stated.

The state also recorded new 269 recoveries, taking the cumulative number of recovered cases to 1,11,165. The recovery rate is 95.72 per cent, the release added.

Manipur now has 3,164 COVID-19 active cases, as per the release.

Meanwhile, a total of 1,567 D-type Oxygen Cylinders and  310 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health institutions and health facilities of Manipur in the last 24 hours.

As per the latest update, the total number of people who have been administered vaccine had reached 15,75,951 (first dose: 11,97,016 and second dose: 3,78,935).

According to the release, there are 453 vacant general beds and 101 ICU/HDU beds of COVID-19 in nine hospitals of Manipur. 

In ILAND Hospital (Contact No. 9540404955/ 7085206820) there are 19 vacant general beds; in MSF, Little flower School (Contact No. 9311222947) there are 13 vacant general beds and six ICU/HDU beds; in CMC, Koirengei (Contact No. 9612636004/9612905628) there are 27 vacant general beds and four ICU/HDU beds;  in Iboyaima Hospital, Singjamei (Contact No.7005436870/ 9612022125) there are 27 vacant general beds and three ICU/HDU beds; in Jivan Hospital, Kakching (Contact No. 9366034272/ 7085348366) there are 16 vacant general beds and eight ICU/HDU beds; in Shija Hospital (Contact No. 7005097688/7005125158) there are 43 vacant general beds and 30 ICU/HDU beds; in Raj Medicity (Contact No.7005105552/9366496411) there are 82 vacant general beds and 18 ICU/HDU beds, in RIMS (Contact No. 7640862396) there are 180 vacant general beds and 21 ICU/HDU beds and in JNIMS (Contact No. 8131855346) there are 46 general beds and 11 ICU/HDU, it mentioned.
