A total of 5,64,50,070 balance and unutilised COVID vaccine doses still available with states and Union territories to be administered, while 70,31,70,775 vaccine doses have been provided to all states and UTs free of cost so far and 8, 02,550 vaccine doses are in the pipeline, the Union Health Ministry said on Wednesday.
As part of the nationwide vaccination drive, the Union Government has been providing the states and UTs COVID Vaccines free of cost.
Informing the availability of the vaccines, the ministry reiterated the Union Government's commitment to accelerating the pace and expanding the scope of COVID-19 vaccination throughout the country.
The new phase of universalization of COVID-19 vaccination, which began on June 21, 2021, has been ramped up through availability of more vaccines, advance visibility of vaccine availability to states and UTs for enabling better planning by them and streamlining the vaccine supply chain, the ministry stated.
In the new phase of the universalization of the COVID19 vaccination drive, the Union Government will procure and supply (free of cost) 75 per cent of the vaccines being produced by the vaccine manufacturers in the country to states and UTs.
