Manipur revises COVID-19 SOP, Ima markets remain closed

Three Ima markets will remain closed. Find out what's allowed and what's not.

The Manipur Home department on Monday issued a revised list of permitted activities which will come into effect from September 7 to 21. However, night curfew will continue from 7pm to 4am.

As per the revised order, shopping malls, gymnasium'fitness centres, vehicle showrooms among others will be allowed to open within stipulated times with limited numbers of customers and Covid Appropriate Behaviour.

For vehicle showrooms, the timing will be from 8am to 5pm, 10am to 4pm for shopping malls, 5am to 10 am for gymnasium/fitness centres.  In addition, Brick kilns, stone crushers and furniture manufacturing units are also included in the permitted list.

It stated that unavoidable customary and religious rituals can be performed in open sheds by restricting the number of invitees to 20 only. However, social gathering/feast are not permitted.

The order further stated offices of insurance companies can have public transactions on all working days from 10 am to 3:30 pm, postal services from 10 am to 3:30 pm and banking from 10 am to 2:30 pm.

Even as certain shops and establishments are permitted to open, the three Ima markets will remain closed, stated the order.

Local grocery stores have been permitted to open from 7am to 5pm and shops selling fish, poultry from 8 am to 5pm. Shops selling milk and fresh milk products will be allowed from 6 am to 2pm everyday.

Whole sale shops of grocery and food essentials located in Thangal bazar, Paona bazaar and Masjid road will be allowed to open from 7 am to 5pm on roster basis.
