Manipur Human Rights Commission submits first ever annual report to state government

The MHRC has already submitted the annual report to the state government on August 12, to be laid before the State Legislative Assembly as mandated under Section 28 of the Protection of Human Rights Act, 1993.

Manipur Human Rights Commission (MHRC) on Saturday announced that the first ever Annual Report 2020-21 of MHRC since its establishment in 1998 has been submitted to the government of Manipur.

MHRC acting chairperson Khaidem Mani personally handed over a copy of the annual report to Chief Minister N Biren Singh, in the presence of Education Minister S Rajen Singh and Law and Legislative Affairs Minister Th Satyabrata on Friday, MHRC stated in a release signed by deputy secretary E Anand Singh.  

It stated that the office of the MHRC has already submitted the annual report to the state government on August 12, to be laid before the State Legislative Assembly as mandated under Section 28 of the Protection of Human Rights Act, 1993.

It mentioned that the annual report is a compilation of various activities undertaken by the MHRC since its reconstitution by the present state government of Manipur. It also contains observations and recommendations of the commission, in addition to the organisational and functional role of MHRC, it added.
