India's daily positive tally remains above 40000-mark

India has reported 42,618 more COVID-19 positive cases and 330 more deaths due to the viral infection.

India reported 42,618 more COVID-19 positive cases and 330 more deaths due to the viral infection, as per the latest update by the Union Health Ministry on Saturday.

Kerala continued to report the highest number of daily COVID-19 positive cases at 6,253, followed by Assam and Andhra Pradesh with 270 and 220 new cases respectively.

Kerala also reported the highest number of daily deaths due to the viral infection as 131 more patients succumbed to it. Maharashtra reported 92 more detahs, second highest number of daily fatalities on Saturday. Delhi continued to report no deaths due to COVID-19, as per the Health Ministry update.  

The country's COVID-19 death toll mounted to 4,40,225, while the total confirmed caseload reached 3,29,45,907, including COVID-19 active caseload of 4,05,681. The active cases account for 1.23 per cent of the total cases.

India also reported 36,385 more recoveries in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recoveries to 3,21,00,001. The country’s COVID-19 recovery rate currently is 97.43 per cent.

The country’s weekly positivity rate stood at 2.63 per cent, less than three per cent for last 71 days, while the daily positivity rate currently is 2.50 per cent.

Meanwhile, a total of 52,82,40,038 tests have been conducted across the country so far. As many as 17,04,970 were tested for COVID-19 on September 3.

The cumulative number of vaccine doses administered so far under the Nationwide Vaccination Drive reached 67,72,11,205.
