Laipham Khunou has become the first locality to become a COVID-19 free zone in Heingang assembly constituency, Imphal East district, said Laipham Khunou Youth Development Club (LKYDC) secretary Ngashepam Rakeshwor on Friday.
He told the media persons that since the outbreak of COVID-19 first wave, LKYDC COVID-19 Warrior along with the volunteers of the club have been taking various initiatives to fight against the virus infection.
With the objective to make the locality a COVID-19 free zone, the volunteers have conducted various awareness programmes in and around the locality, he said adding that the locals still need to be cautious though the locality has become COVID-19 free.
Rakeshwor further said the virus infection can be prevented easily by taking precautionary measures and maintaining COVID-19 appropriate behaviour. He also said that almost all the eligible people of the locality have taken the first dose of COVID vaccine and the necessary steps for the second dose will be taken soon.
