Manipur reports 272 new COVID-19 positive cases, two deaths

Manipur has 3,267 COVID-19 active cases as of Friday.

Manipur on Friday recorded 272 new COVID-19 positive cases, pushing the state's tally to 1,14,774 while the death toll mounted to 1,792 with two more fatalities, according to the latest update by the state health department. The positivity rate is 8.8 per cent. 

The two COVID-19 fatalities recorded on Friday are from Imphal East and Thoubal, according to a release issued by the State COVID-19 Common Control Room. 

It stated that of the two fatalities, both of them had comorbidities, one was vaccinated with both doses.

Imphal West and Imphal East continued to report the highest number of new COVID-19 cases with 104 and 46 cases respectively. Twenty-six cases each were reported from Bishnupur and Ukhrul, 32 from Churachandpur, nine from Thoubal, eight from Senapati, six from Chandel, five from Kangpokpi, four each from Kakching and Tamenglong and one each from Jiribam and Pherzawl.

All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, it stated.

The state also recorded 323 new recoveries, taking the cumulative number of recovered cases to 1,09,715.

The recovery rate is 95.59 per cent, the release added.

Manipur now has 3,267 COVID-19 active cases, as per the release.

Meanwhile, a total of 1,017 D-type Oxygen Cylinders and  257 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health institutions and health facilities of Manipur in the last 24 hours.

As per the latest update, the total number of people who have been administered the vaccine has reached 15,46,343 (first dose: 11,90,974 and second dose: 3,55,369).

According to the release, there are 423 vacant general beds and 92 ICU/HDU beds of COVID-19 in nine hospitals of Manipur. 

In ILAND Hospital (Contact No. 9540404955/ 7085206820) there are 23 vacant general beds; in MSF, Little flower School (Contact No. 9311222947) there are six vacant general beds and seven ICU/HDU beds; in CMC, Koirengei (Contact No. 9612636004/9612905628) there are 30 vacant general beds and six ICU/HDU beds;  in Iboyaima Hospital, Singjamei (Contact No.7005436870/ 9612022125) there are 25 vacant general beds and three ICU/HDU beds; in Jivan Hospital, Kakching (Contact No. 9366034272/ 7085348366) there are 14 vacant general beds and eight ICU/HDU beds; in Shija Hospital (Contact No. 7005097688/7005125158) there are 48 vacant general beds and 30 ICU/HDU beds; in Raj Medicity (Contact No.7005105552/9366496411) there are 69 vacant general beds and 17 ICU/HDU beds, in RIMS (Contact No. 7640862396) there are 168 vacant general beds and 19 ICU/HDU beds and in JNIMS (Contact No. 8131855346) there are 40 general beds and two ICU/HDU, it mentioned.
