BSF Wives Welfare Association donates sanitary items to Churachandpur hospital

Different sanitary items were donated to Churachandpur district hospital by the BSF Wives Welfare Association (BWWA), BSF Subsidiary Training Centre (BSF-STC), Churachandpur on Thursday.

The sanitary items included dustbin (big and small sizes), plastic doormats, phenyl, liquid floor cleaner, hand wash, bleaching powder, wipers, sanitisers, face masks and others. The items were purchased from the contributions made by BSF trainees, officers and their wives of the subsidiary training centre, the BWWA said.

BWWA president Neelam Singh also presented gifts to the doctors, which included thermos, Parker pens and hand towels. The nurses were also presented with items like mustard oil, dal, toothpaste, shampoo, sanitary soap, antiseptic solution (Dettol), detergent powder, hand wash, biscuits and other items.

During the programme, IG of BSF-STC, Raja Babu Singh said that they do not have funds like the Army or Assam Rifles for civil action as they are just a training centre for soldiers but decided to contribute. He also asked the doctors to cooperate with them as the COVID-19 third wave is looming.

Second in command of STC-BSF, MKT Simte said they had provided water and anti-venom to the people of Churachandpur on need basis and are now providing what they can do for frontline workers.

The initiative of providing sanitary items and gifts was taken by BWWA with contributions ranging from Rs 100 to Rs 1000 from every interested person which approximately amounted to Rs 2 lakh, he added.

CMO Dr Vumchinpau Tonsing extended his gratitude to BWWA for the initiative and said that their donations to CCCs were huge. MS Dr Vanlalkungi also thanked the STC-BSF team for the gifts and offered vaccination doses to all who are willing from the subsidiary training centre.
