Man sentenced to 15 years rigorous imprisonment in drug case

Lalthang Lhouvum was arrested from Kasturi Bridge along with 3 kg of opium on August 19, 2014 by a joint team of City police and the Narcotic Cell.

A 48-year old man who was convicted by the Special Court of ND&PS in drug related case has been sentenced to undergo 15 years rigorous imprisonment with a fine of Rs. 1,00,000 which is to be paid within six month on Tuesday.

If the convict Lalthang Lhouvum fails to pay within six month then he has to undergo imprisonment for another six month and the period which he spent in the jail will  be set off from the period of conviction, court order stated.

After submitting the charge sheet under section 18(b) ND&PS Act, charges were framed against the convict on April 11, 2016.
