COVID-19: 382 new positive cases push Manipur's tally to 1,13,933

Manipur on Tuesday recorded 382 new COVID-19 positive cases, pushing the state's tally to 1,13,933, while the death toll mounted to 1,782 with one more fatality, according to the latest update by the state health department. The positivity rate is 8.8 per cent. 

The COVID-19 fatality recorded on Tuesday was reported from Bishnupur district and the deceased was not vaccinated, according to a release issued by state COVID-19 Common Control Room. 

Imphal West and Imphal East continued to report the highest number of new COVID-19 cases with 152 and 66 cases respectively. Twenty-eight were reported from Bishnupur, 27 from Churachandpur, 31 from Kakching, 16 each from Kangpokpi and Ukhrul, 15 from Tamenglong, 17 from Thoubal, five each from Pherzawl and Chandel, two from Noney, and one each from Senapati and Jiribam.

All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, it stated.

The state also recorded 324 new recoveries, taking the cumulative number of recovered cases to 1,08,754. The recovery rate is 95.45 per cent, the release added.

Manipur now has 3,397 COVID-19 active cases, as per the release.

Meanwhile, a total of 1,355 D-type Oxygen Cylinders and  307 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health institutions and health facilities of Manipur in the last 24 hours.

As per the latest update, the total number of people who have been administered the vaccine has reached 15,24,408 (first dose: 11,86,702 and second dose: 3,37,706).

According to the release, there are 407 vacant general beds and 83 ICU/HDU beds of COVID-19 in nine hospitals of Manipur. 

In ILAND Hospital (Contact No. 9540404955/ 7085206820) there are 19 vacant general beds; in MSF, Little flower School (Contact No. 9311222947) there are seven vacant general beds and eight ICU/HDU beds; in CMC, Koirengei (Contact No. 9612636004/9612905628) there are 27 vacant general beds and four ICU/HDU beds;  in Iboyaima Hospital, Singjamei (Contact No.7005436870/ 9612022125) there are 24 vacant general beds and three ICU/HDU beds; in Jivan Hospital, Kakching (Contact No. 9366034272/ 7085348366) there are 16 vacant general beds and six ICU/HDU beds; in Shija Hospital (Contact No. 7005097688/7005125158) there are 45 vacant general beds and 28 ICU/HDU beds; in Raj Medicity (Contact No.7005105552/9366496411) there are 65 vacant general beds and 17 ICU/HDU beds, in RIMS (Contact No. 7640862396) there are 144 vacant general beds and 16 ICU/HDU beds and in JNIMS (Contact No. 8131855346) there are 58 general beds and one ICU/HDU, it mentioned.

It also informed that the state government has started free RT PCR and Rapid Antigen Testing in Imphal West and Imphal East districts from August 27 to September 2 at designated sites decided by the department and on call basis from 10 am to 5 pm.
