COVID-19 confirmed cases in Mizoram increased to 59,119 with 1,157 new positive cases, pushing the active caseload to 9,107, according to the latest update posted on Twitter by the state Department of Information and Public Relations on Tuesday.

As per the update, the daily positivity rate stands at 8.87 per cent.

The cumulative number of COVID-19 recovered cases remained at 49,798, while as many 214 persons have died due to COVID-19 in the state.

The capital city Aizawl, is the worst-hit district in Mizoram with the cumulative number of confirmed COVID-19 cases of 38,813, of which 5.308 are active cases.

The other COVID-19 active cases included 631 in Lunglei, 384 in Siaha, 465 in Champhai, 922 in Kolasib, 72 in Serchhip, 629 in Lawngtlai, 576 in Mamit, 41 in Khawzawl, 53 in Hnahthial, and 26 in Saitual, according to the DIPR's update.

Meanwhile, as many as 8,91,977 people have been administered COVID-19 vaccine in Mizoram since January 16, 2021, including 6,55,089 first dose and 2,36,888 second dose, it added.
