Transform informal trades to formal businesses: Commissioner of customs NER Shilong

The Commissioner of Customs NER Shilong, Gaipuijei Machunlung Kamei visited Moreh on Monday and held a meeting with trade bodies and local civil bodies.

Commissioner of Customs NER Shilong Gaipuijei Machunlung Kamei on Monday visited Moreh and held a meeting with trade bodies and local civil bodies at Integrated Check Post (ICP) Moreh.

Members of Border Trade and Chamber of Commerce (BTCC), Indo-Myanmar Friendship Chamber of Commerce (IMFCC), Moreh Youth Club (MYC) and Kuki Students' Organization (KSO) Moreh block attended the meeting.

The difficulties, grievances and issues faced by the Trade bodies at the India-Myanmar border town were highlighted by BTCC and IMFCC during the meeting. Free Movement Regime (FMR) which allows free movement of Indian and Myanmar citizens within 16 km of the border was also discussed in the meeting.

Informing about the enforceable commercial contracts, tax breaks and incentive packages, GM Kamei urged the trade bodies to transform their informal trades to formal businesses.

As a part of Azadika Amrit Mahotsav, the custom commissioner GM Kamei, colonel Sumit Sood and leaders of Trade bodies planted tree saplings at ICP Complex.

Beside GM Kamei, superintendent Customs Preventive Force, Moreh Mohd Alimuddin Shah; superintendent Land Customs Station, Moreh SK Gangte; superintendent, Anti Smuggling, Customs Division, Imphal P Roben Singh; CO 43 AR colonel Sumit Sood; Major Bharat 43 AR and additional SP (Opps) M Amit also attended the meeting at ICP Moreh.
