Man jailed on charges of robbery in Imphal

Lamphel police arrested a man on June 29 from his residence in connection to a complaint lodged for stealing a sum of Rs 50,000 with some official documents and laptop worth Rs 48,000 and four refill cylinders worth about Rs 12,000 from Langol Housing Complex.

Chief Judicial Magistrate, Imphal West on Monday sent a 24-year-old man into 15 days judicial custody under section 457/380/34IPC in connection to a case or robbery.

The accused has been identified as one Thanga Haokip, son of Doujathang Haokip of Langol Housing Complex Type-IIIG-29. Lamphel police arrested him on June 29 from his residence in connection to a complaint lodged for stealing a sum of Rs 50,000 with some official documents and laptop worth of Rs 48,000 and four refill cylinders worth about 12,000 from Langol Housing Complex.

The robbery took place on June 8 and the complaint was lodged to police over the phone.

Thanga Haokip admitted his offence during police interrogation and also disclosed that he was remanded into judicial custody in two different cases at Lamphel Police station. Under the influence of drugs and with motive to commit offence, he broke into the house of his neighbour and stole one laptop bag, gas cylinder and some money. The court has remanded him into judicial custody till July 13.
