The Community Home Isolation Centre (CHIC) that was opened at Lamding Higher Secondary school for Khangabok assembly constituency was closed down on Thursday and shifted to the Community Quarantine centre of Wangjing Kodompokpi.
The centre was closed down reportedly due to the second wave of COVID-19 losing its grip in the state. The closing down of the centre was marked by a simple ceremony that held in the presence of MLA Khangabok assembly constituency Okram Surjakumar. He expressed his gratitude and commended the doctors, nurses and other health workers who voluntarily worked to run the centre.
He said, fortunately the second wave is receding now. As a result, there are no more Covid patients lodged at the CHIC for Khangabok assembly constituency, and the volunteers of the centre have decided to shift its location to Kodompokpi.
The centre was opened on May 9 when the state was hit hard by the pandemic. A total of 741 patients were successfully isolated at the centre, he added.
He lauded the volunteers for deciding to clean up the compound of the centre. He urged them to further join hands in the future and take a united resolve to defeat the pandemic. He assured to extend his assistance in the future.
