After a long lull, India reports spike in daily COVID-19 positive cases above 40000-mark

India reported 46,164 new COVID-19 positive cases in the last 24 hours as per the update on Thursday.

India’s COVID-19 active cases remained below two per cent of the total cases of 3,25,58,530, according to the latest update by the Union Health Ministry on Thursday.

However, the country witnessed an increase in the number of daily COVID-19 positive cases at 46,164 in the last 24 hours as per the update on Thursday.  With it, the countrywide COVID-19 active cases account for 1.03 per cent of the total positive cases and the total active caseload stood at 3,33,725.

Also, a total of 34,159 recoveries were recorded in the last 24 hours, taking the number of total recoveries across the country to 3,17,88,440. The recovery rate currently is 97.63 per cent.

The weekly positivity rate stood at 2.02 per cent, less than three per cent for last 62 days, while the daily positivity rate also remained less than three per cent for the last 31 days at 2.58 per cent.

Meanwhile, a total of 51,31,29,378 tests have been conducted across the country so far, and a total of 60,38,46,475 crore vaccine doses have been administered across the country so far under the Nationwide Vaccination Drive.

Maharashtra remained the state with the highest number of COVID-19 confirmed cases and death toll in India, while Kerala’s total active cases of 1,70,829 remained the highest among all states and Union territories in the country so far.
